A valiant performance by Villarreal in their second leg match against Porto, but they were never going to overturn the 5-1 result from a week ago. Cani gave the Spaniards the lead in a whirlwind start, and for a few minutes a remarkable turnaround looked possible. But five minutes before the break a seemingly harmless shot from Hulk caught Musacchio on the heel and bounced past Diego López in to the net, and just two minutes after the restart it was all over when Falcao got on the end of Guarín's cross to score his fifth goal of the tie. Villarreal didn't give up though, and even though Guarín rattled the bar with a fierce free kick, Rossi hit the post at the other end before Capdevila made it all square once again. And with ten minutes to go Rossi scored a pyhrric winner from the penalty spot after Marco Rubén was brought down by Otamendi to at least save some pride after their first leg humiliation.
