Goals:
1-0. 84. Andreasen. Intercepted bad Zapata back pass and fired shot past keeper.

A mistake by Villarreal's new defender Zapata allowed Odense to take a one goal lead in to next week's second leg. The scoreline remained unchanged until six minutes from the end, when Andreasen intercepted a sloppy back-pass by the Columbian defender before beating Diego López. Earlier on the Spanish side had had the better chances, with front two Rossi and Nilmar firing shots wide before the break, and than coming up against keeper Wessels after the restart. On paper Villarreal are still favourites to go through, but the Danish side already knocked out Panathiaikos in the last round, and they are not going to be a push-over. They demonstrated that tonight.
