Villarreal are in serious trouble in this season's Champions League after they lost 2-0 at Napoli, and they are still to pick up a point after their opening two matches in what has been labelled "the group of death". Rossi passed a late fitness test to play, and Zapata and Nilmar both tried their luck early on. However two goals in a two minute period around the quarter hour mark finished them off, and they were unable to make any head-road in a solid defence after that. Hamsik got the first, beating the offside trap to collect Lavezzi's cross to score, and Cavani drilled home the second from the penalty spot after Gonzalo brought down Lavezzi inside the area. Garrido replaced Gonzalo with midfielder Camuñas with only half an hour gone in a brave move, but Nilmar failed to take advantage of a bad back pass before the interval, and De Sanctis kept out a Rossi header after the restart. Difficult times for Villarreal, and with two games against Manchester City next up it isn't going to get any easier.
