Villarreal are virtually out of the Champions League after the cruellest of defeats at Manchester City, a last second strike by Kun Agüero handing them their third defeat in a row. Both teams have been struggling in the competition, but things looked good for Garrido's side when Cani turned the ball under Joe Hart early on after the keeper could only parry a shot from Rossi. After that though the Premier league team were on top, Kolarov bring a good save out of Diego López with a long free kick before crossing in for Marchena to turn the ball in to his own net trying to clear. Dzeko tested the visiting keeper either side of half time, and then failing to hit the target a couple of times when free on goal after the interval. Villarreal held on though until the last five seconds, when David Silva got enough of a touch on Zabaleta's cross to take it past the defenders and on to Agüero, who turned the ball in to the net on the far post.
