Real Madrid thrashed Dinamo Zagreb 6-2 on Tuesday night to ensure top spot of their group with one game still to go. With maximum points from their first four matches and qualification already in the bag, Mourinho left Ronaldo and Casillas on the bench and gave a run out to some of his lesser used players. But even so they were three up with only eight minutes on the clock, Benzema getting the first after Özil set him up at the end of a long passing move. An enthusiastic Callejón made it two after combining with Benzema, and Higuaín left a defender for dead before chipping a third past Kelava. Özil scored the fourth himself after the keeper could only push out a shot from Higuaín, and after the restart Callejón and Benzema both got their second goals of the night to complete the "set". It could have been more, Kelava saving well from Higuaín and Benzema hitting the bar with an overhead kick, but as Madrid slackened off near the end Beciraj and Tomecak scored a couple of late consolation goals for the Croatians. Another big win, and Mourinho can now concentrate on other things before the knock out stage starts in three months' time.
