Under 19 European finals

Spain 0 - Turkey 3

Ninety minutes to forget for Spain's under 19 side, although the result was meaningless in the end as Gines Meléndez's side had already ensured top spot of their group after winning their first two games. The coach put out a strong line up against Turkey despite resting several of his key players, but everything that could go wrong did, with Ramalho steering a header past his own keeper Ortolá with just under half an hour on the clock. Meléndez brought on Sarabia and Deulofeu at the break, but their woes continued when Ortolá hesitated over a possible back pass, allowing Corecki to run through and score. And four minutes later the youngsters scored a second own goal, Sergi Gómez unable to get out of the way after Ortolá pushed out a shot from Iravul. No real damage done though other than to their pride, and Spain go on to meet Ireland in next Friday's semi-final. (26.07.11)
