Copa del Rey, third round

The third round of the Spanish cup took place today, the last round before first division clubs enter the competition. As in previous years the draw was divided into two parts, with the ten remaining second division A sides playing each other, and the lower ranked sides drawn together in a separate section. Teams qualifying from that second group were Albacete, Ponferradina, Cádiz, Mirandés, L'Hospitalet and San Roque, plus Oviedo who given a bye, and all seven are guaranteed a fourth round tie over two legs against one of the sides playing in European competitions this season. Deportivo, Celta, Almería, Alcorcón and Córdoba were the survivors from the second division, and they too will be seeded to play first division opposition. (12.10.11)
