Europa League, day 6

Atlético Madrid rounded off the group stage with a 3-1 win over Rennes, confirming their place at the top of their group with a total of thirteen points. Falcao opened the scoring from the penalty spot late in the first half after Mandjeck brought down Adrián in the area, and Domínguez headed the second from Diego's free kick shortly before the half time whistle. With ten minutes to go to the end Arda Turan wrapped things up with a third goal, and Mandjeck headed a late consolation for the French side from Brahimi's corner. It was not all a bed of roses for coach Gregorio Manzano though, and despite the win the disappointingly small crowd chanted throughout the match for his dismissal after a string of poor recent results. Athletic Bilbao's unbeaten record in this season's Europa League was brought to an end after they lost their last group game 4-2 to Paris Saint Germain. Bielsa's side had already ensured top spot in their group though, and despite putting out a much changed side they took the lead in the third minute when Aurtenetxe headed in a David López corner. By half time however the French side were ahead, Pastore levelling the scores after Bahebeck headed across Nené's free kick, and Bodmer heading over number two keeper Raúl following a Nené corner. David López made it all square again with an impressive shot from outside of the area after the restart, but although Nené fired a penalty over the bar after the referee ruled that San José had handled inside the area, the locals restored the lead when Iñigo Pérez turned Erding's cross in to his own net a couple of minutes later. Hoarau did convert a second penalty in the dying minutes to seal the win after Iturraspe had brought down Nené, but with Salzburg beating Slovan Bratislava in the other group game, PSG will not be going any further in the competition.
