Latest transfers

Only four days to go to the close of the winter transfer window, and things are still looking pretty bleak. Only Sevilla and to a lesser extent Rayo Vallecano and Levante are animating the market, the Andalusians spending the cash they got for Martín Cáceres to bring in Reyes from Atlético and Babá from Portugal, and to get Cala back from Greece. Rayo have had to let five players go, but they have made up for it with loan signings of Diego Costa, Pulido and Armenteros, and Levante have taken Botelho from Rayo and have signed Oscar Serrano from Racing to help them with their dream of a place in Europe next season. Betis have given up their fight for Valencia's Ricardo Costa and have signed Paulao from Saint Etienne, and Zaragoza have added Apoño to their squad after he left Málaga, who themselves are reported to be making enquiries about Tévez! Surely not? Otherwise not much is expected to happen in the next few days, unless Villarreal can agree terms to sell Nilmar to Sao Paulo, in which case they will probably confirm their move for Tottenham's Giovani, and several clubs are still looking for a reliable striker, including Espanyol and Granada.
