Atlético Madrid are this season's Copa del Rey champions after they beat Real Madrid 1-2 in the Bernabeu stadium on Friday evening! The game got off to a lively start, Cristiano Ronaldo heading the hosts in to the lead early on from Özil's corner, but Diego Costa made it all square with ten minutes to go to the break after picking up Falcao's pass and firing in a shot which Diego López could only push on to the post before the ball entered the net.

Özil could have restored the lead when he fired a shot against the foot of the upright shortly before the interval, but soon after the restart Filipe Luis and Miranda both came up against the home keeper. After that though Madrid were in control, Courtois saving from Özil, and Benzema and Ronaldo both hitting the post again, with Juanfran clearing Özil's follow up off the line.

Mourinho was sent off for protesting with a quarter of an hour to go, but the game went in to extra time, with the locals making three substitutions at once to try and turn things around. A few minutes later however Miranda got on the end of Koke's cross to head the ball in to the net, and Courtois pulled off first class saves against Higuaín and Özil to keep Atleti in front.

With tempers fraying, Ronaldo was sent off for kicking out at Gabi, and the Atlético captain was sent off himself as well for a second bookable offence. But the final whistle went seconds later to give the boys in red and white their first win against the old enemy in fourteen years and twenty four games. They say revenge is a dish best served cold, but that's a long time to wait!
