Under 21 European Championship play-offs

Denmark 1 - Spain 3

Spain cruised through to next summer's finals after annihilating Denmark 8-1 on aggregate in their play-off double header. With a five goal lead from the first leg the outcome was never in doubt, and although De Gea had to make early saves from Fischer and Laudrup, Muniain increased the lead after Isco and Montoya combined to set him up. With an hour on the clock Alvaro Vázquez scored Spain's second of the evening after Isco put him through, and it seemed that the tie was over. But a battling Denmark didn't want to go away empty handed, and after a period of attack in which De Gea saved from Christiansen and Gundelach, and Hoegh headed against the upright, Christian finally got the consolation goal they were looking for. It was the first that Spain had let in for eight games, and with their pride stung, Sarabia sent Vázquez away to for him to beat Ronnow for a third time. (16.10.12)
