Latest transfers

The winter transfer window opens tomorrow, although the ongoing economic crisis in Spain means that once again little activity is expected over the next 31 days. Cash-strapped clubs are reticent to change their squads, and they are even thinking twice about a change of manager, Deportivo's Oltra only the third to fall since the start of the season. The new man in Coruña, Portugal's Domingos Pacienca, joins eight of his fellow countrymen at the club, and with Atlético's Silvio one of several possible new signings, that number could increase. Sevilla, Celta, Rayo, Valladolid and Villarreal have already lined up new squad members though, and the local press are filling their empty pages during the winter recess with rumours about possible transfers, with names such as Llorente, Villa, Negredo, Falcao and Monreal all hitting the headlines. Only time will tell whether any of those moves happens, but whatever the case clubs have until the end of January before the market closes once again. (31.12.12)
