Match round-up - Second Division play-offs, semi-finals, second leg

Almería and Girona are this year's promotion play-off finalists after both won through their semi-finals tonight. Almería kicked off first with a 2-1 victory over Las Palmas, although they had to wait for the last minute of extra time before Charles got the winner. The Brazilian striker opened the scoring on the hour mark, but a late goal from Chrisantus squared the tie. Under the new rules Almería would still have gone through without resorting to a penalty shoot-out as the higher ranked side in the final league table, but after missing a penalty, and with the Canary Islanders down to nine men, Charles got his second of the night just to make sure. Later in the evening Girona booked their place in the final with a 3-1 win over Alcorcón. Acuña stayed on the pitch just long enough to put the Catalans ahead in the fifth minute, and Juanlu added two more before Sergio Mora got a late consolation for the visitors. The two finalists meet in the Montilivi stadium on Wednesday night, with the return leg in Almería on Saturday. (16.06.13)
