Atlético Madrid will have to settle for second spot in their group after a 1-0 defeat at Viktoria Plsen in their last group game. Simeone's side had several good chances before the break, particularly for Diego Costa, but midway through the first half Prochazka got what was to prove the only goal, turning the ball past Asenjo on the far post after Duris headed across a corner. Koke came on after the restart and immediately fired a shot just over the bar, and Costa came up against Kozacik once again after Adrián put him through. But with the game coming to an end substitute Sául Ñíguez had a strike ruled out for a previous foul, and an impetuous Costa was shown a red card for head-butting an opponent in the resulting mêlée. The win takes the Czech side above Atleti to top spot in group B, and the Spaniards will have a harder route in the knock-out stage as a result.
