Latest transfers

The transfer window is open again, and clubs have until the end of August to complete their squads for the new season. As ever though, the first job is to get the coaching staff on board, and half a dozen or so of the top flight teams have opted for a change. That includes Barcelona, Tata Martino agreeing to leave after failing to win any titles this season, and Celta’s Luis Enrique returning to the Condal City to take over. Celta themselves have signed old boy Berizzo to replace him, and elsewhere the usual merry-go-round is under way, Caparrós switching from Levante to Granada, Javi Gracia moving from Osasuna to Málaga, and another ex Osasuna boss Mendilibar taking over from Caparrós at Levante.

Elsewhere Espanyol have decided not to offer a new contract to Aguirre, B team coach and local hero Sergio González given the chance to prove himself in the top flight in his place, and there are changes as well in the three relegated sides, ex Murcia manager Julio Velázquez taking over at Betis, Rubi coming in at Valladolid, and Osasuna still to choose between several candidates as a replacement for Gracia.

Luis Enrique will be overseeing a major overhaul in the Nou Camp, with Puyol calling it a day and joining the technical staff, Fàbregas signing for Chelsea, and Víctor Valdés, Xavi and Pinto already announcing that they will be leaving as well (although none of them are clear yet where they are going). Others such as Alexis or Pedro could be on their way too, and replacements are already being lined up, Rakitic agreeing a move from Sevilla, Ter Stegen and Claudio Bravo drafted in to cover the goalkeeping spots, and Deulofeu and Rafinha returning from loan placements.

New blood will also have to be brought in at Atlético Madrid, with David Villa, Diego Costa, Courtois, Tiago, Filipe Luis and Diego Ribas all set to leave, and their neighbours Rayo Vallecano are another of the early movers in the market, with seven new faces already signed.
