Valencia completed the formalities with a 1-1 draw against Kuban Krasnodar in their last Europa League group game. The Ches had already ensured top spot in group A, and Djukic rested several of his key players. Even so though they had the better of the first half, Michel and Postiga going close and Michel heading against the upright in the opening twenty minutes. Pabón and Postiga also tried their luck before the break, but after the restart the Russian side came back, Diego Alves having to save from Cissé and Melgarejo. Djukic turned to Paco Alcácer though, and the young striker broke the ice just a minute after coming on, picking up a Banega through ball and rounding the keeper to score from the tightest of angles, with a little help from ex Valencia defender Dealbert. However with six minutes to go Melgarejo got on the end of a Gonzalo Castro cross to make it all square, and a couple of minutes later Víctor Ruíz got himself sent off for a hard tackle on an opponent. No real damage done except for the loss of half the €200,000 prize money, but another game which really shouldn't have gone the way it did.
