Real Sociedad were unceremoniously dumped out of the Europa League after losing 3-0 to Russia’s FC Krasnodar on a hot Thursday evening. Defending a 1-0 first leg lead, the Basque side were pushed back right from the start, and only a good performance from new keeper Rulli kept the scores level. With twenty minutes to go though the locals were awarded a hotly disputed penalty when Laborde fell under a challenge from De la Bella, and Joaozinho fired the spot kick in off the post. Rulli had to go off with an injury a few minutes later, and three minutes from the end Pereyra drilled home a second after a defender could only clear a long throw in to his path. Real threw everything forward looking for the away goal, but Ari scored a third on a rapid breakaway, and the game ended in disarray when Bergara and Joaozinho were both sent off.
