Defending champions Sevilla stay at the top of their mini-league after a 0-0 at Standard Liège. It was not one of their best performances though, and only the fact that Rijeka beat Feyenoord in the other group game kept them in first place. Neither side created any real chance before the break, the best effort a header from Gameiro which Thuram collected easily. After the restart Beto had to tip a long cross from Van Damme over the bar, and then save a header from Faty, but Gameiro fired a deflected shot against the upright, and an over-nervous Bacca came on for the French striker to waste a couple of good chances later on. In the end however the Andalusians were thankful for the point after ex Valencia forward Vinicius turned a shot just wide of the post when free on goal in injury time.
