Athletic Bilbao are out of the competition after they lost 2-3 to Torino in the San Mamés stadium. A 2-2 draw from the first leg gave Valverde’s side the edge, although that was wiped out on the quarter hour mark when Quagliarella converted a penalty after Gurpegui tripped Vives in the area. Iraola made it all square a couple of minutes before the break, but almost immediately Maxi López restored the lead, and only a good save by Herrerín prevented the ex Barcelona striker from adding another after the restart. Iñaki Williams headed against the post soon afterwards though, and with an hour gone De Marcos ran on to Muniain’s through ball to level the tie. Seven minutes later howver Darmian connected with El Kaddouri’s cross to volley in a third, and after that there was no way back.
