Defending champions Sevilla are through to the last sixteen after beating Borussia Moenchengladbach 2-3 in the return leg. Unai Emery’s side went ahead twice in the first half hour, Bacca turning in an Aleix Vidal cross under pressure from Stranzl, and Vitolo running on to beat Sommer after Xhaka had levelled the scores. Hazard made it all square again just a couple of minutes later, but Sevilla’s two away goals meant that the German side had to score two more, and only a couple of good saves by Sommer prevented Bacca and Vidal from putting the Andalusians back in front. Kruse and Hazard both hit the woodwork after the interval, but the locals were left with ten men when Xhaka picked up a second booking, and Iborra headed against the bar before Vitolo put the result beyond doubt on another quick breakaway near the end.
