Sevilla are through to defend their title after beating Villarreal 2-1 on Thursday evening! Already 1-3 up from the first leg, the Andalusians came close to extending the lead when Iborra brought a good save out of Sergio Asenjo. The visitors replied with shots by Mario and Pina which Sergio Rico kept out, but M’Bia went close with a header from a wide free kick soon after the restart. With twenty minutes to go however Iborra combined with Bacca to open the scoring for the locals. Giovani levelled it just four minutes later with a free kick which found a gap in the defensive wall, but Eric Bailly got himself sent off after picking up two bookings in succession, and Denis Suárez headed in a Trémoulinas cross with seven minutes to go to put the tie beyond the reach of Marcelino's team.
