Athletic Bilbao were the first team to kick off in official competitions this season, and they got off to a good start with a 2-0 victory over Inter Bakú in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier. New signing Eraso, who came through the ranks at San Mamés before moving on to Leganés, scored both of the goals, the first in the twelfth minute after Beñat and De Marcos combined to set him up. Susaaeta went close before the break, and Eraso got his second of the night after Susaeta laid the ball across from right of the area at the start of the second half. Visiting keeper Aghayev made first class saves after that from Eraso, Aduríz and Susaeta to keep his team in the tie, although Athletic are strong favourites to wrap things up in Azerbaijan next week.
