Defending champions Sevilla have a good chance of reaching the quarter finals after a 0-0 draw at Basel (hosts of this year’s final) in their first leg tie, although once again they failed to win away from home, a major worry for Unai Emery this season. As it was however, keeper David Soria hardly had a save to make throughout the ninety minutes, Janko heading an early chance wide, and Steffen and Bjarneson failing to find the target after the restart. Coke went close with a couple of efforts before the break, and N’Zonzi, Gameiro and Konoplyanka all came up against Vaclik in the second half. With five minutes to go the Andalusians were left with ten men when N’Zonzi was sent off for a second bookable offence, but the game petered to an end soon afterwards.
