Atlético Madrid have one foot in the quarter finals of the Champions League after a 2-4 victory at Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday night! Simeone’s side went two up by the break, Saúl Ñíguez opening the scoring with an impressive shot from the edge of the area, and Griezmann getting the second after Gameiro set him up on a quick counter-attack. Wendell turned a Filipe Luis cross against his own bar early on and Griezmann could have added a third when Leno deflected his shot over the bar on another breakaway, but Moyà had to make a top class save from Kampl, and just three minutes in to the second half Bellarabi got one back after connecting with a cross from Henrichs. The game was moving at an electric pace though, Gameiro restoring the two goal cushion from the penalty spot after he was pulled over on the edge of the area by Dragovic, and Savic deflecting the ball in to his own net after Moyà could only push out a cross by Brandt. Chicharito fired a shot over the top and Filipe Luis had to clear a shot from Brandt off the line as the German side pushed for the equalizer, but with four minutes to go substitute Fernando Torres got on the end of a Vrsaljko centre to head a fourth past the local keeper.
