Levante are back at the top of the second division after a 1-0 victory over Sevilla Atlético on Wednesday evening. The Valencia based side had won their first two home games, and Morales, Campaña and Roger all failed to convert chances in the first half. The goal though did not come until a quarter of an hour from the end when Caro’s attempt to punch clear Toño’s cross only gifted the ball to substitute Paco Montañés for him to score. The result takes López Muñiz’s side back above Lugo, Zaragoza and Córdoba, and they remain five points clear of Elche, now fifth after a 0-3 win at Huesca. The goals though didn’t come until the last quarter of an hour of the match, Hervías beating Herrera from the edge of the area to open the scoring. Soon afterwards Noblejas latched on to a loose ball to make it two, and Nino wrapped things up with three minutes to go. UCAM Murcia are just a point behind Elche in sixth place though after they thrashed Almería 4-0. Tito put the university side ahead with an angled shot on the quarter hour mark, and Góngora got the second from the penalty spot after Diamanka fouled Natalio in the area at the start of the second half. Soon afterwards the visitors were left with ten men when Alex Quintanilla picked up a second booking, and Natalio and Juanma Delgado added two more later on. (21.09.16)
