Champions League Final

Juventus 1 - Real Madrid 4

Real Madrid are winners of the Champions League for the second year in a row and the twelfth time in their history after they beat Juventus 1-4 in this season’s final! The Italian side got off to the better start, Keylor Navas having to save from Higuaín and Pjanic early on. With twenty minutes gone though Ronaldo opened the scoring after combining with Dani Caravajal, his shot taking a slight deflection off Bonucci, but just seven minutes later Mandzukic levelled the scores with an acrobatic overhead kick, and Dybala, Chiellini and Pjanic all tried their luck before the break. After the restart however Zidane’s side were on top, Modric, Marcelo and Isco all going close before a long shot from Casemiro hit Khedira and rebounded in to the net. Just three minutes later Ronaldo got on the end of Madric’s cross to make it three, and Juventus were reeling. Alex Santos headed a free kick just inches wide later on, but substitute Cuadrado was sent off for a second bookable offence following an off the ball incident with Sergio Ramos, and with the game coming to an end Marco Asensio wrapped things up after connecting with a cross from Marcelo. It was the first time that Madrid have sealed a domestic league and European cup double in 59 years, and they become the first club to take the Champions League title in successive seasons. (03.06.17)
