Copa del Rey

Fourth round, second leg

Second division B side Fuenlabrada gave European champions Real Madrid a scare in the Bernabeu stadium, and although they were knocked out in the end they came away with their heads held high after drawing 2-2 in the second leg. Two up from the first leg, Zidane rested almost all of his first choice players. However they went behind midway through the first half when Keylor Navas helped a long shot from Luis Milla (son of the ex Madrid player) in to the net, and Cata Diaz headed against the bar soon after the restart. Gareth Bale came on though for his first appearance following a long injury lay-off, and within two minutes he had a hand in two goals for Borja Mayoral, the first setting up a header with a cross from the right, and the second after keeper Pol Freixenet saved his first shot. Portilla levelled it for the visitors though near the end, and there were whistles from the local crowd after the final whistle.

One second division team is already in the next round though, Numancia knocking out Málaga after a 1-1 draw in the Rosaleda stadium. Adrían González gave his father’s team the lead following Jony’s corner with just under 20 minutes gone, but Elgezabal made it all square with a header from a Dani Nieto after the restart. Leganés won 1-0 against Valladolid to add to their 1-2 victory from the first leg, Tito heading in Eraso’s cross with just under half an hour gone. And Celta and Levante are also through, the Galicians beating Eibar 1-0 with a last minute Iago Aspas penalty after Dmitrovic brought him down in the area, and the Valencia based team knocking out Girona 3-1 on aggregate despite a 1-1 draw in the home leg, Mojica giving the visitors hope of overturning the scoreline before Morales wrapped things up with a quarter of an hour to go.
