Match round-up - Second Division A, Day 8

Osasuna stay in first place after the teams below them all failed to win on Sunday. Valladolid, Lugo and Numancia all started their matches knowing that a victory would take them to the top of the table. However they all lost away from home, Valladolid beaten 4-1 at Rayo Vallecano, Lugo 2-0 at Granada, and Numancia 3-0 at Zaragoza. Despite the defeat Numancia stay in second spot due to the higher number of goals scored versus Sporting and Huesca, but only six points now separate the top thirteen sides! Zaragoza climb out of the relegation spots thanks to the win, as do Córdoba, who beat Alcorcón 3-0. Lorca now find themselves in the drop zone after a 2-1 defeat at fellow strugglers Albacete in the mid-day kick-off, and Barcelona B and Oviedo stay in mid-table after they drew 1-1 later in the day. The first division takes a break for international matches this weekend, but there was a full round of second division fixtures, with another round due to be played midweek as well. Osasuna are the new leaders, overnight at least, after a 0-2 victory at Cádiz on Saturday. Xisco and De las Cuevas got the goals late on, but not before visiting keeper Sergio Herrera saved three penalties! Six teams though are within two points of the Pamplona based side pending Sunday’s games, Sporting Gijón and Huesca back in the mix after three goal victories against Sevilla Atlético and Almería respectively. Tenerife are in to the play-off spots after a 2-0 win against Nàstic, but Cultural Leonesa drop out of the top six after a 1-1 draw at Reus. (07.10.17)
