Match round-up - Second Division A, Day 12

Granada are up to second in the table, above Sporting on goal difference, after a 4-1 victory over Lorca in the Monday night game! The star of the night was Machís, who put the Andalusians two up at the break (the second a penalty), and then set up Joselu for the third before completing a hat-trick later on after Tropi had got one back for the visitors. Lugo will end the weekend in first place for the first time in their history after last week’s leaders Osasuna were held to a 0-0 draw at Tenerife on Sunday. Once again though it took a penalty save by Sergio Herrera, this time from Malbasic, to at least save a point which leaves the Pamplona based side in third spot. Seven of the ten games to date this weekend though ended all square, Valladolid drawing 2-2 at Reus to move back up to sixth pending Granada’s game on Monday. The Catalans took the lead through Querol and then Gus Ledes, but Mata and Angel pegged them back both times. Numancia are level on points with both Valladolid and Granada though after they drew 1-1 at Córdoba, Manu del Moral giving them the lead, but Jona levelling it from the penalty spot shortly before the break. Alcorcón were the only team to win on Sunday, strikes either side of half time by Alvaro Giménez and Laure in a 2-0 victory over Oviedo taking them above their opponents and away from the danger zone. Barcelona B are now level with Oviedo after they drew 1-1 against fellow B side Sevilla Atlético, Carlos Aleñá opening the scoring, but Marc Gual giving the Andalusians their sixth draw of the season. They stay bottom of the table though, still without a win after the first twelve games. (29.10.17)

Only one goal in the first four games of the weekend, and after yesterday’s goal-less draw there were two more, between Cádiz and Rayo Vallecano, and between Albacete and Huesca. Lugo’s Campillo was in fact the only player to score up to then, his strike midway through the first half giving the Galicians a 1-0 victory against Nàstic which takes them to the top of the table overnight, and leaves the Catalans back in the relegation spots. There were another two goals later in the evening though, Sporting Gijón beating Almería 2-0 to move up to second, still a point behind Lugo. Both goals came in the first half, Michael Santos heading in a Calavera cross for the first, and Joaquín putting through his own net for the second. (28.10.17)

Zaragoza and Cultural Leonesa kicked off match-day twelve with a 0-0 draw on Friday evening which left them level on points in mid-table. (27.10.17)
