Villarreal finish top of their group after they won 2-0 against Spartak Moscow on Thursday. Samu Chukwueze got the first early on after a shot from Moreno was blocked by a defender, the youngster cutting past his marker to fire an angled shot past Maksimenko. Soon after the restart Ekambi made it two after a quick passing move with Fornals, and although Zé Luis and Cáseres both hit the woodwork there were no more goals. It was good start for new coach Luis García, although his side did end with ten men after Jaume Costa was sent off for a hard tackle on Ananidze near the end.
