Atlético Madrid kicked off the weekend with a 2-0 win over city neighbours Getafe, a result which takes them up to fifth place in the table. The visitors had the better of the opening minutes, with Colunga and Parejo testing De Gea and Manu shooting just wide. But Reyes and Simao went close at the other end, and with seven minutes to go to half time the locals went ahead when Simao's free kick came back off the post and deflected in to the net off the back of the unfortunate Codina. Casquero and Manu tried their luck after the restart, but with just over a quarter of an hour to go Reyes sent Valera away for him to set up Diego Costa for his side's second.
