The gap between third and fourth is now down to three points after Valencia were beaten 1-0 by Osasuna in the last match on Sunday evening. The locals started the weekend down in the relegation spots and they came out looking for goals, Guaita doing well to tip an early header from Lolo over the bar and then blocking a shot from Camuñas. Valencia's only reply in the first half was a weak shot by Soldado, and although they started timidly to attack after the interval, Mendilibar's side went ahead when a speculative shot from Cejudo hit Stankevicius on the back and deflected in to the net. Mata did go close after that, but Osasuna could have won by a bigger margin had Camuñas been able to beat Guaita when free on goal late on.
