Racing Santander found themselves at the foot of the pile at the end of the weekend after they were beaten 2-1 by Mallorca. A Torrejón own goal from Nsue's cross on the stroke of half time, and a strike by Víctor from Pereira's cross a few minutes after the restart, were enough to give Caparrós his first win since taking over at the club. However the visitors battled right to the end, Ariel heading one back from Diop's free kick with a quarter of an hour to go. And after Bigas was sent off for a heavy tackle on Arana, Aouate had to make the save of the night from Picón to prevent the Cantabrians from saving a point. The defeat, together with the precarious financial position of the club, took its toll though, and coach Héctor Cúper resigned a few hours after the match ended.
