Rayo Vallecano moved up to eighth spot after a 3-0 victory over Betis in the last game on Saturday the evening. After their heavy defeat at Espanyol last weekend, Sandoval's side were looking to bounce back, and only some good saves by Fabricio, in particular from Michu and Diego Costa, kept the scores level at the break. Five minutes after the restart though Armenteros ran on to Diego Costa's through ball to open the scoring, and Fabricio had to keep out Piti again before Diego Costa headed the second from a wide Trashorras free kick later in the second half. The visitors had only got near Joel's goal with a couple of speculative efforts from Molina and Santa Cruz, and with the game coming to an end Tamudo collected a long pass from Trashorras and ran on to wrap things up with an angled shot.
