Fourth placed Málaga are still looking good for the final Champions League place despite losing 2-1 to an Atlético Madrid side who are now only two points behind the Andalusians in the table. Pellegrini's side started well against a direct rival, with Isco and Joaquín testing Courtois early on and Rondón wasting a couple of chances. Falcao fired a shot wide at the other end after Adrián set him up in front of goal, but soon afterwards Eliseu latched on to a loose ball outside the penalty area to fire an unstoppable shot past the local keeper. After the restart though Atlético rallied, Adrian and Diego shooting just wide before Koke equalised, driving a shot back past Kameni after the keeper punched out a corner. And with ten minutes to go Adrian got what was to prove the winner after Falcao headed on a long clearance from Courtois. The visitors felt themselves unlucky to have a late strike from Camacho ruled out for what the referee considered to be offside, but even so they should be able to do enough against Sporting on the last day to keep Atlético and Levante at bay.
