Valladolid return to the first division after an absence of two years after beating Alcorcón 2-1 on aggregate in the play-off finals. Djukic's side were full of confidence after winning the first leg 0-1, and a capacity crowd saw Oscar almost catch Manu Herrera off his line with a shot from the halfway line early on. Paco Montañés tested Dani Hernández at the other end though, and with the first half coming to a close Fernando Sales got on the end of high ball out of defence from Agus to loop a header over the local keeper. That levelled the tie, although a change in rules this season meant that Valladolid would still go up as the higher ranked side if no more goals were scored to the end of game, obliging the visitors to keep attacking. However seven minutes in to the second half Sisi and Oscar combined to set up Javi Guerra to make it 1-1 on the night, and although Alcorcón tried their best after that, they couldn't find a way past a well organised defence.
