Atlético Madrid are just two points behind leaders Barcelona in the table after a 2-4 win at Betis on the evening of Wednesday, 26th September. The game had been rescheduled from day three as Atlético had been playing the European Super Cup that weekend, and after good starts by both teams, the winner of this match was ensured second spot. Agra gave the Andalusians the lead midway through the first half with a centre which bounced in to the net past Asenjo, who was deputising for the injured Courtois. And although Falcao got on the end of a Raúl García cross to equalise three minutes later, Juan Carlos put the locals back in front on the stroke of half time with another cross from wide out which hit Juanfran and looped over the unfortunate keeper. A couple of minutes after the restart though Atlético were level again, Falcao converting a penalty after he was held back by Perquis, who was sent off for the offence. And although the Colombian striker went off with an injury, his replacement Diego Costa came on to make it three following Turan's corner moments later. Betis were left with nine men when substitute Joel Campbell picked up a second booking, and Raúl García wrapped things up in injury time after Turan crossed over from the left of the area.
