Real Madrid stay four points behind second placed Atlético after they beat neighbours Rayo Vallecano 2-0 on Sunday evening. Mourinho gave young striker Morata a run out up front, and within three minutes he took his opportunity, steering a shot past Rubén after Kaká and Özil combined to set him up. And less than ten minutes later Madrid appeared to be on track for an easy victory when Ramos fought off his marker to head Özil's free kick past the keeper. However soon afterwards Ramos got himself sent off after picking up two bookings in less than a minute, and Morata was sacrificed to make room for a replacement defender. After that Mourinho decided to play safe, and Rubén only had to make a couple of saves from Kaká and Khedira after the restart. Trashorras fired a shot over the bar at the other end, and Piti saw his shot blocked by his own player as it was heading towards the net, but otherwise Rayo were unable to take advantage of the extra man, and they drop out of the top six as a result.
