Betis got the point they needed be sure of one of the Europa League spots after a 1-1 draw at Levante, albeit that in the end it was not really necessary after closest rivals Rayo Vallecano could only draw. The locals only really had pride at stake, but they were by far the better side in the first half, with Nikos, Valdo and Navarro going close, Pedro Ríos testing Casto and Iborra having a headed goal ruled out for a borderline offside. Casto had to save from Valdo again after the restart, but soon afterwards he could do nothing when Pedro Ríos ran in from behind to head a Nikos cross in to the net. Up to that point only Pabón had caused any problems for the local defence, but Jorge Molina brought a good save out of Navas as the visitors rallied, and midway through the second half the striker levelled the scores after Rubén Castro laid the ball back from left of the area.
