Real Sociedad picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at fourth placed Athletic Bilbao on Sunday evening, and although their place in the Europa League is assured, they will have to wait for the last day to see whether they finish fifth, sixth or seventh. The visitors had the better start, Vela turning a shot wide and Iraizoz having to save from Xabi Prieto and Bergara. Toquero missed a sitter at the other end though close to half time, and although Chory Castro went close soon after the break, Muniain put the locals ahead after winning the ball in midfield and battling through to curl a long shot past Bravo. The visiting keeper had to be on his toes to save from Mikel Rico a few minutes later, but with a quarter of an hour to go substitute Agirretxe picked up a through ball from Vela and rounded Iraizoz to make it all square. Both teams had chances after that, Bravo tipping a long effort by Iturraspe over the top and Laporte having a headed goal ruled out for a previous foul, and the visitors responding with a Griezmann header which Iraizoz kept out, but in the end a draw was a fair result.
