Getafe are gradually getting their act together after a poor start to the season, and they move up to ninth pending the rest of the weekend games after beating Deportivo 1-2 in the Friday night game. The Madrid based side started the weekend two points ahead of their hosts, and they had much the better of the first half, Lafita going close and Velázquez bringing a good save out of Fabricio before Yoda’s shot hit the post and went in off the back of the keeper. Escudero could have added to the lead after that, with the locals only replying when Cavaleiro fired a shot in to the side netting, and Victor Fernández made two changes at the break to try and change things around. However just a minute after the restart Lafita got on the end of Hinestroza’s cross to score his side’s second, and the ex Deportivo forward put a couple of chances wide after that. Half time substitute Postiga did cause a few problems later on, and with ten minutes to go he got one back after Cavaleiro and Toché combined to set him up, but the strike came too late to save the result. Depor’s recent good run has come to an end, and once more they are dragged back in to the relegation struggle.
