Almería are now in the bottom three after they were beaten 1-0 by Elche on Saturday, and with FIFA’s three point penalty hanging over their heads (currently under appeal), they are starting to struggle. The locals themselves began the day in the relegation spots, but with only six minutes gone Víctor Rodríguez headed them into the lead following a good run by Jonathas. Julián had to save from Pasalic and Jonathas, Aarón Ñíguez fired a shot over the top and Enzo Roco had a headed goal ruled out by the referee, presumably for a foul on the keeper, and at the other end Dubarbier hit the post with a free kick and Tyton had to tip a Corona shot over the bar. Both keepers made further saves in a lively second half, but in the end Víctor’s goal took his team above their opponents in the table.
