Las Palmas moved off bottom spot to within a point of escaping the drop zone after they beat Betis 1-0 in the last match on Saturday night. The Andalusians had picked up the majority of their points away from home this season, but they were bettered by their hosts in the first half, Araujo in particular wasting two or three chances. After the interval Rubén Castro went close against his old side, and Varela, Araujo and Nauzet also failed to hit the target. However with the game in the third and final minute of time added on, and a scoreless draw on the cards, Willian José controlled a Jonathan Viera pass on his chest and turned past his marker to poke home the winner.
