Real Sociedad and Deportivo drew 1-1 in the last match on Saturday night, a result which kept the Galicians in eighth spot, and helped Eusebio’s side inch away from the danger zone. Visiting keeper Lux had to save from Jonathas and Rubén Pardo early on, but Rulli had to keep out Lucas Pérez, and midway through the first half Luis Alberto gave the visitors the lead after Pérez passed across on a quick breakaway. Lux made crucial stops again from Bruma and Pardo, and Bruma had a strike ruled out for offside before the interval, and Rulli tipped a Luis Alberto volley over the bar in reply after the restart. A few minutes later Jonathas felt himself unlucky to have a header disallowed for a questionable offside, but three minutes after that Real were awarded a penalty after Jonás Gutiérrez pulled down Xabi Prieto, and the team captain stepped up to level the scores from the spot. In the last ten minutes Jonathas had another strike disallowed before heading an Illarramendi free kick against the crossbar, and young substitute Oyarzabal also rattled the bar with a long shot, but the final whistle went soon afterwards.
