Celta leapfrogged Athletic Bilbao up to fifth spot (which gives direct access to the Europa League) after they beat Málaga 1-0 on Sunday. The only goal of the game came on the half hour mark, Nolito combining with Iago Aspas and Orellana to turn the ball past Ochoa. Recio tested Rubén Blanco at the other end with a well struck free kick, but Ochoa had to be at his best to prevent Nolito from adding a second before the break. After the interval Blanco had to make a couple more saves from camacho, and Aspas got clear on a quick breakaway only for Ochoa to tip his shot round the post. Berizzo’s side probably have to get something from their visit to Atlético next weekend to hold on to that fifth place, but even if they don’t they will still have had their best season in many years.
