Villarreal moved above Real Sociedad to fifth place after beating Betis 0-1 on Tuesday evening. Both teams had chances in the first half, Sanabria and Rubén Castro going close for the locals and Adán saving from Sansone and Roberto Soriano at the other end. Just two minutes after the interval however Adrián López got on the end of a lofted José Angel cross to turn a shot in on the far post, and Bakambu could have scored a second when he hit the post later on. Dani Ceballos did hit the woodwork again with the game in injury time, but it was another defeat for the Andalusians, and there were whistles and boos from disgruntled fans as the players left the field at the end.
