Almería moved to the brink of escaping the drop zone after a 3-0 victory over Zaragoza in the Friday night game. The club had fired coach Luis Miguel Ramis midweek, Fran Fernández taking over as caretaker for this match, with new boss Lucas Alcaraz watching from the stands. Fran Rodriguez fired the locals into the lead following a set-piece free kick just before the break, and Rubén Alcaraz added two more in the second half, the first after picking up a pass from Pozo, and the second with an injury time shot from the half-way line which caught keeper Cristian Alvarez out of his goal.
