Coming straight after the midweek round of league games, this weekend’s fixtures saw a season high 38 goals in the ten matches! Leaders Barcelona got three of those at Girona on Tuesday, although two were own goals, and Luis Suárez was the only Barça player to score. Atlético Madrid beat Sevilla 2-0 with strikes by Carrasco and Griezmann to move above their opponents to second, and Valencia are fourth after a late 2-3 win at Real Sociedad on Thursday, Zaza tying up the three points for the Ches, and Rodrigo also amongst the scorers. Real Madrid won 1-2 at Alavés with a brace from Dani Ceballos to move up to fifth, and Leganés are sixth after a 0-2 victory at Las Palmas. Espanyol, Getafe, Celta and Betis all scored four times, Gerard Moreno getting two for the Catalans (including a penalty) against Deportivo, Angel also scoring twice for the Madrileños against Villarreal, and Sanabria starting and finishing things off for the Andalusians against Levante on Monday, with Sergio León also netting in between. The highest scoring game of the lot though was the 3-3 draw between Málaga and Athletic Bilbao, Aduríz giving the visitors the lead from the penalty spot, but Roldón saving a point for the hosts with his second of the night near the end.
