Three red cards in the cup this week, with Sevilla's Spahic and Navarro and Atlético's Godín all getting their marching orders in an event packed semi-final first leg. Spahic and Godín were both sent off after giving away penalties, the former with a second booking and the latter with a straight red, and Navarro also gave away a penalty later, on, although his red card came later for a scything tackle on Diego Costa. Curiously there were no red cards at all in the other semi-final between Real Madrid and Barcelona, although tempers in the Bernabeu (both on the pitch and in the car-park afterwards!) flared a bit too!

Five more players sent off at the weekend, starting with Moyà and Abel Aguilar in the Saturday game between Getafe and Deportivo. The local keeper got his marching orders with only ten minutes on the clock after giving away a penalty on Riki, and the Depor midfielder followed him down the tunnel for a second bookable offence midway through the second half. And on Sunday José Marí (Zaragoza), Rakitic (Sevilla) and Javi Márquez (Mallorca) were all shown red cards after picking up two bookings in their respective matches, the first two right at the end and Márquez with just under half an hour gone. The Mallorca midfielder was let off the second yellow card by the disciplinary committee, but the rest will have to serve out a one match suspension together with another eight players who completed the five booking cycle, Abraham (Zaragoza), who picked up his tenth yellow card of the season, and Diego Costa (Atlético), Cañas (Betis), Roberto Lago (Celta), Camuñas (Deportivo), Raúl Baena (Espanyol), Rafa (Getafe) and Tito (Rayo Vallecano), who were all shown their fifth.
