Five red cards at the weekend, although only two of those were for outfield players. Sevilla's Cala was the first to go for a second bookable offence late on in the Saturday night game at Real Sociedad, and Osasuna's Alvaro Cejudo was also red carded after picking up two yellows near the end of the Sunday mid-day match against Levante. Cejudo made matters worse though by insulting a linesman, as did his physical trainer Juanjo Solla, who was also sent down the tunnel a few minutes earlier. As a result Cejudo was given a three match ban, and Solla was suspended for no less than six. Later on Sunday Villarreal manager Marcelino was sent to the stands for protesting, and on Monday the Granada delegate Angel González was also asked to leave for failing to control the ball boys! Both got two week bans. Elsewhere Elche's Botía had the dubious honour of being the first player to reach the five yellow card threshold, and he will have to sit out the next match as well.
